Anniversary Post: Three Years of the "What You've Done" EP

How time has flown!

On this day three years ago, I released my senior project EP What You’ve Done, with six songs plus an interlude (including my single, “Seattle”).

I remember when I first floated the idea of writing, recording, and marketing/promoting an EP for my senior project at Drexel University. At first, I had my doubts - Was I good enough? Would people just laugh at me? Would I just be embarrassing myself? – But soon I came to the realization that that was the best time to do something like that. With the resources that Drexel offered and the external deadlines that had to be met, there was no better situation (aside from actually having money, a record label, a publisher, etc lol) in which to create an EP.

To this day, there are things that I want to fix about that EP. It’s certainly far from perfect, but I personally believe art is imperfect and as long as you’re staying true to yourself, then someone will connect to what you do. And, why is it we do what we do? Is it for the money, the fame, the fortune? No. Our work is about the human experience and connecting with others. It’s about bridging gaps and closing divides. It’s about telling stories.

It’s hard to believe it’s been three whole years. Part of me will always be proud of the fact that I did it, but another part of me does look at the time that’s passed since then and think “Why haven’t you done more since then?” The good news is, I’m currently at work writing songs for a new EP and hope to release it in early 2022. Keep your eyes open for that!

Happy Birthday WYD!
