I'm Back! A Long Break and Some Democracy

I never intended to not post for this long but, considering I probably have a grand total of one person reading these, I feel like it can be forgiven ;)

The crowd at Columbus Circle (masks up, woo!)

The crowd at Columbus Circle (masks up, woo!)

Since I’ve last posted, I’ve been consumed by my full-time job, my acting school, my writing, and yes, the 2020 Election.

I’m not going to mince words here: I voted for Biden.

There are some out there that think people pursuing a career in the entertainment industry should keep their political opinions to themselves. In my opinion, that’s bullshit. When the question is: “Do you or do you not believe in basic human decency?” I’d like the word to know where I stand.

Dancing in the streets

Dancing in the streets

The day that Biden was projected by CNN to win the election, I felt so many things. Joy, relief, excitement, everything! We are set to get back some semblance of leadership. We might be respected again on the world stage. This horrible crash course that we’re on has been diverted… but only for now.

Orange Cheeto man has other plans. He is doing every possible thing to undermine Democracy as we know it. I’m so happy that this election had some of the highest voter turnouts in history, but it is my deepest wish that everyone who voted in this election continues to vote in state elections, local elections, special elections, etc. So, while we continue voting, we have to keep an eye and ear trained at the White House and not let this administration jeopardize our rights as voting citizens.

Out now!

Out now!

Within this blog post, I’m including some snaps of the day when Biden was projected as the winner. On that day, I was alone at work. Normally, there’s someone else in the office with me, but that day it was only me. When I got the push notification from CNN, it’s like I entered the twilight zone. I heard the horns honking and the celebrations in the streets of New York. I started calling everyone I could because I needed to share the joy with someone, anyone!

I work on 50th street so I decided to go on my lunch and walk up to where I heard people were gathering in celebration by Columbus Circle. (On an unrelated note, can we pls rename Columbus Circle already?) The pictures are from that day.

So many things have happened since my last post. Hopefully, I can slowly catch up. And – fingers crossed! – the senate flips blue, the transition is smooth, and we can all get back to hating our president a normal amount (kidding!).

Vote Blue.
