Yay! New Headshots (Bonus Post!)

I’ve been meaning to make this post for a long time now, but there always seemed to be something distracting me from writing it. Well, better late than never!

(I really just want an excuse to gush about my headshot photographer, so read below!)

Back in October, I got my new headshots done by Christie Schwartzman a.k.a. Rebel Darling Studio. I had heard about her from an Atlantic Acting School peer. He had originally intended to bundle his session with another friend of his, but they had to back out so he was looking for a replacement.

I don’t know if it was luck or fate, but at the same time, I had been looking to get new headshots done. So, of course, I jumped on the opportunity.

Immediately, I knew Christie was someone who genuinely cared about the people that she works with. She started off by sending me some headshot guides and branding sheets to start thinking about what direction I wanted to go with these headshots. These branding guides had me thinking about my target roles, and how I can structure my headshots to be a good “fit” for those types of roles. It discussed outfit choice, shirt color, and suggested that I do a poll of my friends and family to find my strengths and weaknesses.

After that, she and I met over Zoom for a free consultation. We discussed my career goals as well as how we can use the headshots to achieve those goals. She informed me of her process and we talked about how to get the “perfect” headshot. Christie was understanding, kind, and so excited to work.

The morning of the headshot shoot, I knew that I didn’t want to take a chance on doing my own makeup, so I actually booked a makeup artist through Glamsquad. I was happy to find Glamsquad because they come to you (with masks of course!) and do your makeup wherever you need it, and it’s at a reasonable price. The makeup artist that came to do my makeup was so nice and friendly. Her name is Tamara Ash and she did my makeup exactly how I wanted it and was so great to interact with.

As for the actual shoot, Christie kept her mask on the whole time and sanitized everything before and after I arrived. She made the space so welcoming and empowering (we blasted Fall Out Boy for a good amount of time). And, on top of that, I had only agreed on two looks with her, but when she saw the shirt options that I brought, she said, “Let’s do all of them!” So, I was supposed to get two different looks but she allowed a couple more. That’s really awesome and I still low-key feel like I ripped her off even though she had suggested it (Sorry Christie!).

And then, after all of that, she sent me my headshots very soon afterwards. And they were AMAZING! I was over the moon happy about the untouched photos, and then the retouched ones were just *chef’s kiss*.

1000% I will be going back to Christie in the future. She is a gem of a photographer and I highly recommend visiting her website and booking a session with her if you need it.
